Paranoid parents may want to use all means at their disposal to keep track of their kids, but be warned that some technologies are just not up to scratch. In my Sunday Times InGear review of child tracking systems mobile phone tracking using the GSM network proved particularly inaccurate and, in my view, next to useless. If you want to do it properly you need GPS satellite technology - and that costs. These services often market themselves as offering 'peace of mind' to parents, but in many cases I suspect they have the opposite effect, begging the question: is tracking really worth doing at all?

Expedia UK on a slippery slope?
The new UK boss of online travel agent Expedia, Caroline Cartellieri (left), recently took a tumble while skiing off-piste at Verbier. She snapped her Achilles tendon and narrowly missed suffering a far worse fate. Her rivals in the travel industry may wish she slips up metaphorically during her tenure at the helm of the UK's largest online travel agency.
